One Building, Two High Schools

Starting in middle school, Jaimita Haskell was marked for the "mainstream" track. As a result, she wasn't put in the advanced classes in high school. This practice is called "tracking," and it's common in school districts across the country. Does tracking match ability with instruction level? Or is it a way of setting up only some students for success? In this story for WNYC's Radio Rookies, one student documents the challenges she faced in trying to switch tracks.
